"I have been seeing Dr. Heffernan for 5 years now, and I am so happy he is opening up his new location in Brunswick. Both me and my wife had work done by him, and we appreciate not only the quality of his work, but also his ability to customize it to our specific needs and desires."
With specialized training and experience in laser dentistry, orthodontics (American Academy of GP Orthodontics AGpO), and Smile Design (SpearDental Education), Dr. Heffernan brings advanced care to the Brunswick community.
Dr. Heffernan studied at The Ohio State University College of Dentistry before being accepted to the Summa Health General Practice Residency where he spent time as both a resident and an instructor. He’s an active member in many local and national organizations including the American Dental Association (ADA), Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), Academy of General Practice Orthodontics (AgpO), and Spear.
After nearly a decade of practicing in different dental settings Dr. Heffernan has decided to create Advanced Dentistry. The passion for this practice comes from Dr. Heffernan’s dedication to excellence, experience, and service to his community. Dr Heffernan and his amazing team invite you to experience the Advanced Dentistry difference.
He is married to fellow dentist, Dr. Brittany Heffernan, who practices pediatric dentistry in the Brunswick area. They love spending time together with their beautiful baby girl, Audrey, and dog, Henry, enjoying all the Lake Erie area has to offer. Dr. Heffernan also enjoys cooking (and welcomes recipe tips and tricks from patients!), and watching Ohio sports, both college and professional, in his spare time.
Dr. Petrov was born and raised in Europe. After graduating from high school, he came to the USA to further his education. After completing his bachelor's and master's degrees in NY, he moved to Ohio where he attended Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine. Ever since high school, he knew that he wanted to work in the medical field. During his undergraduate studies, he was a research assistant in a genetics lab. One day the professor that he worked for told him that he had good hand skills and paid close attention to details, and suggested that he consider a career in dentistry. He understood that it would be a very challenging path, but he followed his advice. Indeed, it was an arduous journey, but looking back he has absolutely no regrets.
Being a dental professional, he focuses on building relationships with patients and helping them improve their oral health. Dr. Petrov enjoys working with his hands and seeing the results. "It is a great feeling when you restore a patient's smile. But what is even better, is seeing their reactions and receiving their gratitude. It's a humbling experience when a patient looks you in the eyes and says 'Thank you!'"
When Dr. Petrov is not helping patients (or learning about new ways to help them), he enjoys working out, reading, exploring new places, and spending time with his girlfriend and their dog.
